Biography
Ted received a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Brigham Young University and Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from UNC.
He is now on the voice faculty for commercial music at both BYU, and UVU. He has been teaching private voice for over 16 years and has also taught music in public schools for 9 years. Ted has performed as the lead singer of multiple bands including Homeslice Band which was voted Denver’s #1 A-list band for 2021, TRL, Appetite for Destruction (a Guns N’ Roses tribute band) and the Icons. Ted has played numerous opera and musical theater roles with favorites such as Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun, Bob Wallace in White Christmas, Will Parker in Oklahoma, Hoffman in the Tales of Hoffman, Peter in the Lamb of God, and Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to name a few.
He served as interim head of Musical Theater at UNC for 1 year. He has directed, music directed and choreographed many musicals such as Footloose, Beauty and the Beast, Thoroughly Modern Millie, All Shook Up, Smokey Joe’s Café, Swing!, Edges, The Last Five Years and more. He plays piano and guitar and has taught several years of beginning and advanced piano and guitar along with professional and aspiring professional voice lessons for ages 8 and up!
Ted has served as a vocal clinician for colleges like BYU, UVU, UNC, CSU, and CU-Denver, NATS, High schools and Middle schools all over Colorado and Utah.
He has performed in multiple professional a cappella groups and arranged and choreographed for a cappella as well. His students are known for Broadway work such as 1776 the musical, Adams Family Musical, launching music on Spotify and live performances of original music in Boston and NY, as well as placing and winning in yearly national competitions and local NATS competitions. Most of his HS graduating students have made Colorado All-State Choir as well as had their choice in top colleges music programs such as NYU, Berklee, Oberlin Conservatory, Shenandoah Conservatory, Carnegie-Melon, Cincinnati Conservatory, BYU, UNCO, CU and more.
