Biography
Korianne Orton-Johnson holds a BFA in Music Dance Theatre and an MM in Vocal Performance-Opera from Brigham Young University. She has been teaching privately for 22 years, 19 of them at BYU. Currently an Assistant Professor and Contemporary Voice Division Coordinator at BYU, her students have been featured on many stages all over the country such as Tuacahn, Sundance Theater, Playmill West Yellowstone, Carriage House Theatre in Canada, The Muny Theatre, Hale Theatre West Valley, Hale Theater Orem, National Tours, Off-Broadway and Broadway.
Many of her students have competed and placed in NATS on the local and regional levels in several categories. Korianne is currently a member of the Central Utah NATS (National Association of Teachers in Singing) chapter and MTEA (Musical Theater Educators Alliance).
As a sought after music director, working for the Hale Center Theater Orem, SCERA, Sundance Theatre; Playmill Theatre West Yellowstone, BYU, and UVU, she has music directed shows such as : Xanadu; Scarlet Pimpernel; Footloose; Tarzan, Lucky Stiff; Singin’ in the Rain; The Wonderettes; The Civil War; Cinderella; The Girl, the Grouch and the Goat; Suessical; Beauty and the Beast; Hello Dolly; The Fantasticks; South Pacific; Urinetown; Kiss Me Kate; My Fair Lady; Oklahoma!; All Shook Up; and The Beggar’s Opera.
