Biography
Ron Saltmarsh grew up in the farmlands outside of Portland, Oregon and went on to become an award-winning composer, producer, and guitarist. He studied music composition and production at Brigham Young University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Music and a subsequent MBA from the BYU Marriott School of Management.
After graduating in 1989, he founded the Jazz Ranch recording studio with fellow BYU Alum and Emmy winner, Sam Cardon. Two years later, he moved to Nashville where, alongside a busy performing career, he composed and produced music for NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CMT, Arts & Entertainment, ESPN, the History Channel, the LifeTime Network, Disney, and many other television and radio stations. Serving a stint as vice-president for video game developer, Flashpoint Software Productions, he was in charge of all music composition, sound production and implementation. He was also a consultant for the wildly successful game ‘Guitar Hero.’
Ron has been nominated and won multiple Telly and Emmy awards for his broadcast and media productions as well as his songwriting, engineering and production skills. He has lent his production and arranging talents to Grammy award winning projects. A recent highlight had renowned violinist Joshua Bell recording a violin solo on an orchestration that was commissioned from Ron.
In 2011, Saltmarsh joined the Brigham Young University School of Music faculty as an associate teaching professor in commercial music. Along with his teaching responsibilities, he continues as an active producer and performer around the country.
