Joined by special guests, BYU Women’s Chorus will perform a concert not to be missed
The BYU Women’s Chorus, conducted by Jean Applonie, will take audiences on a musical journey through a variety of American genres, from traditional patriotic tunes to jazz standards. The concert will be held on March 30 in the de Jong Concert Hall.
Titled “Coming Home,” the evening will open with “America the Beautiful,” arranged by Applonie and student Samantha Adair. From there, the choir will perform a range of hymns, spirituals and folk songs.
The Women’s Chorus will welcome special guests The Saltaires Barbershop Chorus to the stage to perform songs including “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Formed in 1989, the Saltaires are recognized as one of the best barbershop groups in the world, having won the Rocky Mountain District competition multiple times, the Governor’s Mansion Artist Award and the title of Cultural Ambassadors of the State of Utah.
The finale features The Women’s Chorus performing some of the best loved jazz standards such as “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “I Got Rhythm.” The choir will be joined by a jazz combo and dancers to send audiences off on a high note.
