Biography

Lawrence Green received his Bachelor of Music degree at Brigham Young University (1979) and his Master of Music degree at Arizona State University (1985). He has taught at BYU since 1982. He is coordinator of the guitar program as well as a senior lecturer at the BYU School of Music. He teaches beginning and intermediate level group guitar and gives lessons to music majors and non-majors. He also directs the Guitar Ensemble and teaches the Guitar Pedagogy class.

Lawrence Green has extensive solo, orchestral and chamber performance experience as a classical guitarist, and his studio recordings include “Kingsfold”, by Tantara Records at Brigham Young University and also “Abide with Me”. Green is a member of the Guitar Foundation of America.

Though his first love is classical guitar, Lawrence Green has been playing in local rock and country bands since 1969 and in Utah since 1978. Green is currently playing in his family variety band, “Jerseystreet”, which plays throughout the western United States
