BYU Family Concert Series presents “Painting Pictures with Winds” Mar. 25
The BYU Wind Symphony presents Painting Pictures with Winds on Saturday, Mar. 25 at 11 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and no tickets are required for this family event.
This performance is an opportunity for both young and old to see how the imagination is triggered by music—and in this case—band music. The BYU Wind Symphony will present arrangements from classic songs and favorite movie soundtracks, such as Harry Potter.
“We’ll begin with an overture that introduces the instrument families of the band and the colors they provide with some variations on Yankee Doodle,” said Donald Peterson, director and conductor of the BYU Wind Symphony. “We will also take the imagination to the movies with music from Harry Potter and Star Wars. We’ll even have a composition that portrays the journey of a fly as it buzzes through the sections of the band.”
Families will be able to stand close enough after the concert to see how all the instrument families make their individual sounds. For more information about other upcoming BYU Family Concert events visit familyconcerts.byu.edu.
