Biography

David Brown came to Brigham Young University in 1998 as a trumpet specialist with the primary responsibility of teaching Applied Trumpet. Mr. Brown also teaches Trumpet Pedagogy, Trumpet Literature, Jazz History, Intro to Music, and The Book of Mormon. He performs regularly as a session player in area recording studios and as an extra with the Utah Symphony Orchestra and Ballet West. From 1975 to 1998 Mr. Brown performed as Principal Trumpet with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Great Lakes Brass Quintet. During that same time he also performed as Solo Cornet with the Toledo Concert Band and as Second Trumpet in the Toledo Opera Orchestra. From 1976 to 1998 Mr. Brown served at the University of Toledo teaching Trumpet, Jazz History, and performing with the Faculty Brass Quintet.
